Day 2
May 23rd,
2012
Atlanta
to Nashville
Ali singing into an artsy bike rack. Get it gurrrrrl.
Successful
day.
Woke
up and went for a run around Beth’s neighborhood while Kyle did some last
minute apartment searching. After solidifying a few tours of apartment
complexes we headed off to Midtown and Buckhead. Between Kyle and Mike they
collectively toured 15+ apartments in two days. They decided on their favorite.

Post Briarcliff Apartment Complex
(aka the country club)
We
all went out to lunch (with Mike’s parents) to chat a bit more and wait for
confirmation from the third roommate that the number 1 choice was good to go.
Then we went back to the top pick and applied for the lease! Watch out Atlanta
– Kyle McCarty and Mike Ross are about to rock Hotlanta J
Since
Ali covered the apartment touring driving back and forth the 250 mile leg to
Nashville was on Kyle.
Kudos
to Kyle and to Poppa Farr (for giving Kyle stick shift lessons) because Kyle’s
stick shift driving is basically 100%. No stalls so far.
Some drive highlights;
-
Starting the blog!
-
Ali ate packaged seaweed. Maybe she’s trying to bring the
beach into the car!
-
Lots of trees
-
Practically no cops.
-
We’ve passed at least 5 Hooters
If Deloitte doesn’t work
out, there’s always
other employment
options….
-
Completely forgot about time zones until we got into
Nashville and realized we had gained an hour!
Destination
- Comfort Inn in Downtown Nashville about a mile from Vanderbilt Owen School of
Management where Ali spent 4 straight weeks (along with PK) working on
mini-consulting projects for a business bootcamp program. We walked around the
campus and Ali showed Kyle where she spent way too many late nights preparing
for presentations.
Outside the Owen School
of Business Management.
Shoutout to PK who knows those doors too well because
he
would always stroll in at 7:58 when the rest of us had been there since
7:30.
Then
we drove downtown and parked at the waterfront where you can see the Titans
stadium on the other side of the Cumberland river. Right as we got out of the
car there was a MASSIVE freight ferry moving up the river at a pretty good
pace.
Tennessee Titans Stadium
and Cumberland River
After
walking on Broadway for a while we decided to stop and grab dinner at what
appeared to be a local brewhouse. There was some country music in the
background and a list of about 60 different beers on tap. Fun spot.
We
kept walking around Broadway area, saw the big Bridgestone arena where Ali got
to go for one of the consulting projects. We also stopped by Boot Country cause
it’s a crime not to go into a boot shop while in downtown Nashville. Despite
the fact that Kyle hates jeans, if given the choice would choose to wear Nike
hightops for the rest of his life – got him to try on some snazzy looking
Western boots.
New cowboy boots for
Cardi the Gunslinger? HOWDY!!!
Tomorrow’s
gonna be a long drive to Kansas City. Google maps says 9 and a half hours! The
next day will be even longer. Wish us luck J
Drive Data: ATL – NASH
